AB-InBev buys Goose Island Beet & Busch family relinquishes board seat
Anheuser-Busch InBev is acquiring Chicago craft brewer Goose Island for $38.8 million as part of a larger effort to increase craft-beer offerings. "We really needed to step up our efforts in the high end," said Dave Peacock, president of Anheuser's U.S. unit, which also plans to increase ad spending for specialty beer, including Shock Top wheat ale, Stella Artois and Landshark Lager.
